Meeting With Food Suppliers

About a year ago, I started paying closer attention to the quality of the food in our restaurant. Instead of ordering from the cheapest vendor, we started meeting with different vendors to find the best fit for us. We were able to find an incredible business that really understood our needs. They also offered incredible prices on top-of-the-line foods, and it was really great to work with them. They helped us to completely renovate our menu, and we were really impressed with everything that they did for us. This blog is all about meeting with food suppliers and understanding how to streamline your restaurant.

Arrange For Meal Delivery

by Scarlett Newman

If you have decided that you want to get in shape and to eat healthier foods, consider arranging for meal delivery. It's true that the service won't be inexpensive. However, when you factor in how much you'd spend at the grocery store, the amount of time you'd be spending while shopping, and even the cost of gasoline, you might find that meal delivery will be a lot more affordable than you expected it to be.

Just as important, you'll have the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the foods will be fresh, healthy, and planned especially for you.

When you first speak to the agent at the meal delivery facility, he or she will ask you what your food preferences are. For example, if you are a vegan,  the service will need to know that. In addition, you'll need to tell him or her if you have any food allergies.

From the very beginning, be specific about what your goal is. For instance, if you are wanting to lose weight, let the agent know that. If you are focused on eating more vegetables, fruits, and fish and less red meat, be clear on that, too. Maybe you have a real sweet tooth, but you don't want any sugar in your diet. Ask if sugar-free desserts could be part of your food delivery.

The meals will arrive in airtight containers at the address you have provided. Each container will be labeled with its contents and nutritional information. The meals will be ready to eat. In some cases, you might want to pop a meal in the microwave or in your oven.

Arrange For Meal Kits - Besides meal delivery that is ready to be eaten soon after delivery, you might also want to arrange for the delivery of meal kits. These are perfect if you love to cook and bake, but you don't want to shop for the ingredients that are needed to make a particular meal. You can be very specific about which meal kids you want to order.

Here are some meal kit ideas that you might want to try:

  • Ingredients like ground turkey, fresh yellow corn, canned tomatoes, fresh chopped green chiles and spices to make a healthy taco soup
  • Brown rice, sliced fresh salmon, fresh onion, pineapple chunks, and teriyaki sauce to make a Hawaiian-style dish
  • Fresh tilapia filets, spices, lemon wedges, and lemon pepper to make your own sautéed tilapia.

Try meal delivery for one or two weeks first. If you're happy with it, subscribe for a month at a time. Don't forget to let the facility know if you'll be out of town.
